Former county judge receiving recognition

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Former Craighead County Judge Dale Haas received a plaque from the Craighead County Veteran's Monument Foundation.

President of the organization, Jim Lane, says this is a small token of their appreciate to him for his hard work on the Veteran's Monument Project that now stands in Downtown Jonesboro.

"Had it not been for Judge Haas this never would have happened, we never would have had a living monument and with him leaving office we thought it would be a good idea," Lane says.

Haas says he is grateful for the award, but he is just one of many people involved that made the monument possible.

"I was blessed today by being honored for being a part of it. But it wasn't just I, from Ted Pylant to so many people, all the veterans and veteran's organizations that helped put this program together and made it a reality. Words don't describe what those people mean to me and what they mean to the community," Haas says.

Haas says he's taking many great memories with him.
