The first residents of the Chateau on the Ridge are signed up

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A local assisted living facility is one step closer to becoming a reality. Arkansas Methodist Medical Center first broke ground on the Chateau on the Ridge site in late summer of last year.

AMMC held meetings open to the public in the hospitals auditorium on Monday to exchange information with future and potential residents.

Vice President for the Chateau on the Ridge, Shane Carter, says he and those who have worked on this project for so long are excited to see things beginning to happen.

"Today is an exciting day as we're starting to admit our first residents into the Chateau on the Ridge. The Chateau is still currently under construction, but today is not only the first day residents can pick out their new home, they can also learn about the many services and amenities that will be included at the Chateau on the Ridge."

Carter says they offered a meeting in the morning and one in the afternoon.

He says they not only wanted to tell people about the new facility, but answer any questions people had and learn about any additional services they were looking for.

"They are learning what Chateau on the Ridge is all about. We have spent years in designing a retirement community just for seniors, And to help and take care of the health and wellness that are important to them. They're not only learning about all the amenities in the community, but how to become a resident and really get in on the ground floor. And not just pick out the unit that they're wanting, but also communicate with us about the various services they are also desiring."

Carter says the Chateau on the Ridge will offer a number of things people haven't seen available in most assisted living facilities.

"First of all, people are going to see larger apartments that are available than in most assisted living facilities. They're also going to see so many amenities all under one roof. It's just incredible. From a general store, to a chapel, a spa, wellness center, a physical therapy clinic, a sit down dining room where residents will be served three meals a day, also a bistro and covered parking. Transportation will even be provided for those residents who do not want their vehicle there."

Carter says they will also be on top of any personal or medical services a resident needs.

"We're going to be able to take care of various personal services that a resident would require. From bathing and grooming to laundry, medication management, plus a twenty-four hour staff that is there and ready to assist a resident as needed. The residents also will have a pendant that they'll wear and should they need anything, all they'll have to do is press the button and then our staff will be right there, ready to assist."

Fifty-nine units are going to be available, but Carter says people may need to hurry.

A number of people attending Mondays meetings decided to secure their spot.

"We've already had many residents to put down their deposits and they're just ready to move in and start enjoying the lifestyle the Chateau on the Ridge is going to offer."
