WALNUT RIDGE, AR (WBC) - Williams Baptist College has swept men's and women's Player of the Week honors in American Midwest Conference basketball. The conference announced Tuesday that WBC's Kyle Harvey and Cheyenne Childers were selected for the honors based on games played last week.
Harvey, a sophomore forward from Corning, Ark., turned in a stellar performance during the Eagles' 95-90 overtime loss at home against Missouri Baptist University. He registered a game-high 38 points along with 10 rebounds in the contest. He was 15-of-22 from the field (68.2 percent) and made 8-of-11 free throw attempts (72.7 percent). Harvey also had an assist, blocked shot and steal in the effort.
He is the son of Leon and Virginia Harvey.
Childers, a freshman forward from Cave City, Ark., averaged 19 points and nine rebounds in two victories last week for the Lady Eagles. She racked up 32 points and 14 rebounds against Missouri Baptist on Saturday. For the week, she shot nearly 70 percent from the field, hitting 16-of-23 attempts from the floor (69.6 percent). In addition, Childers made her only three-point field goal try of the week and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line (83.3 percent).
She is the daughter of Mark and Laura Childers.
Williams is a four-year, liberal arts college at Walnut Ridge.
