Boozman to Run

FORT SMITH, Ark.  --Congressman John Boozman of Rogers is planning to seek another term in office. He told Republican supporters last night that he'll run for re-election in next year's general election.

Boozman will likely face a Democratic challenger for the Third District seat. State Democratic officials say State Representative Jan Judy of Fayetteville has said she is strongly considering a run for the Democratic nomination.

State Democratic chairman Ron Oliver says two or three other candidates have expressed interest, but he declined to identify them.

Whoever chooses to take on Boozman would be his first opponent since he was elected in a special 2001 election to replace Asa Hutchinson, who left to become head of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
