Harding Men's Basketball jumps to 19th in national poll

From Harding University

The Harding men's basketball team moved up three places to 19th nationally in the NABC/Division II Coaches Poll released Tuesday. It is the highest a Bison men's basketball team has been ranked during the NCAA era.

Harding defeated Christian Brothers, then ranked 19th, on Saturday in Memphis, and defeated Arkansas-Monticello 80-75 on Monday in Searcy. The two victories moved the Bisons to 15-2 overall, the program's best-ever record after 17 games.

Saturday's game is reflected in the rankings, but Monday's is not.

Harding is 5-0 in Gulf South Conference play for the first time in its 11 seasons in the conference.

The Bisons will play another nationally-ranked team Thursday in 23rd-ranked Arkansas Tech. Tip-off in Russellville is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Tucker Coliseum.

The only other GSC team in the rankings is Alabama-Huntsville, ranked sixth.

The first NCAA Division II Regional Rankings come out Thursday. These rankings determine which teams play in the NCAA Division II National Tournament at the end of the season. Harding is expected to be ranked among the top 10 teams in the NCAA South Region.
