1st Ark. Nat'l Guard farm-training team back in US

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas National Guard says the first agriculture development team from the state trained to help farmers in Afghanistan has returned to the United States.

A news release Sunday from Arkansas Guard headquarters at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock said a plane carrying approximately 60 soldiers and airmen members of the team landed just before midnight Saturday at Indianapolis.

After clearing customs in Indianapolis, the team members were taken to Camp Atterbury, Ind., where they will undergo medical evaluations and complete paperwork before returning to Arkansas.

The news release said Arkansas was one of 13 states that took on the duty of training such a team. The team left Arkansas last February, and has been working to improve the agricultural economy in Afghanistan's Zabul Province.
