BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – The Baxter County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man after police say he intentionally rammed another car.

According Baxter County Sheriff John F. Montgomery, 32-year-old Jonathan R. Rouse, of Gassville, was arrested on the morning of January 30 after the Baxter County 911 Center began receiving reports of a man in black vehicle intentionally ramming his girlfriend's car on Highway126 North.

With the help of the Arkansas State Police, Sheriff's Deputies tried to located the both Rouse and his girlfriend. Before officers could locate the two cars, the 911 center received another report that the cars went their separate ways—Rouse was traveling on Highway 178 W in Midway, and his girlfriend's car was going toward Mountain Home on Highway 5. Only a few moments later, 911 operators said they received another call indicating that Rouse was walking around a home on CR 901 in Midway carrying a machete.

Lakeview Police Officer Edwin Thomas was the first on scene, and arrested Rouse. Investigators said they not only found the machete, but also found marijuana in his possession.

Police said Rouse had threatened his girlfriend with the machete earlier that day.

Rouse was charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member, carrying a weapon, and possession of a controlled substance. At the time of the report, Rouse was being held in the Baxter County Detention Center pending the posting of bond, which was set at $5,000.

He is scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on February 17.
