Students work to help their teacher fight breast cancer

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Paragould high school students are trying to raise money for a teacher fighting breast cancer.

Donation jars are being set out at games and t-shirts are being sold. A silent auction is also being held for Baldwin Elementary School teacher Kristina Moss.

All the proceeds will go to Moss to help with expenses.

Tammy Gossett with the Paragould School District says each year the number of participants grow.

"Last year, it was just the girls basketball players that wore pink uniforms. This year, the cheerleaders and dance team both have pink pom-pons, hair bows and socks. And the boys are wearing pink wrist bands in honor," Gossett says.

Gossett adds she thinks the students are getting as much as they're giving.

"I think the students gain some pride. Pride that we're doing something in our school to help the community and specifically a teacher in our school district," Gossett says.

February 11th is the school's "Pink Out" night where everyone is invited to dress in pink for the evenings basketball game.
