Winter weather wipes out Lyon's opening weekend series with Oklahoma-Wesleyan

BATESVILLE, Ark. (2-4-11) - The winter weather continues to strike the Lyon College baseball schedule as the series against Oklahoma Wesleyan, originally scheduled for today and tomorrow in Batesville, has been called off.

It was a match up that was intriguing for many players, coaches and fans. However, travel conditions between Bartlesville, Okla. and Batesville was poor enough that safety of the OKWU team and fans were in question.

OKWU head coach Kirk Kelley is the former skipper of the Scots.

At this time, there is not word on if the series would be rescheduled, or if any other games would be added to the Scots season lineup.

Currently, the next scheduled series for the Scots will now be their home opener on Wednesday, Feb. 9, against Evangel (Mo.). First pitch in the doubleheader will be a noon, weather permitting.
