Health and Wellness Institute: phase one completed

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A special ceremony took place in Jonesboro just off Matthews Drive on Friday.

St. Bernards' hospital held a "topping out" ceremony. The ceremony celebrated the completion of phase one in the construction process of the upcoming Health and Wellness Institute.

The final beam of the first phase was put into place after it was signed.

President and CEO of St. Bernards' Healthcare, Chris Barber, says they're thrilled to be offering this facility and it's many services to the public.

"We believe this is the harbinger of health care in the decades ahead when it comes to prevention, treatment and health services. So, this will be a state of the art fitness and wellness center that will not only encompass high tech fitness equipment, but also medical services," Barber says.

The Health and Wellness Institute will offer medical services including cardiac rehabilitation, therapy, an aquatic center and a physician office from Jonesboro Orthopedic Sports Medicine.

The project is expected to be complete in the fall of 2011.
