JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Another round of winter weather is making its way through the Mid-South Monday.  Sleet and snow started falling before daybreak and began accumulating on the ground and roadways. Much of the area is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 3pm.

Roads around the Mid-South are snow covered.  Bridges and overpasses are especially slick in Jonesboro according to Craighead County 911 Director Jeff Presley.  Presley urges everyone to drive slowly if they are out on the roads.

Much of the heavy snow should taper off by Noon, but some snow could linger until around 3pm.  Up to two inches could accumulate in Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri.  Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing tonight, which could freeze any snow or water on untreated roads.

There are a number of power outages being reported.  Much of Bay, Black Oak, Caraway, Dell, and parts of east Jonesboro and east Blytheville were without power for a time.  There are smaller outages being reported in other parts of the area.  Crews are working to restore power.
