Slick roads kept JPD busy Wednesday

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Roads were treacherous all over Region 8 Wednesday, causing multiple wrecks.

One semi-truck jack knifed at the intersection of Mathews and Patrick. Jonesboro Police stopped to help the driver gain control of the vehicle.

The winter weather also caused wrecks along I-40, forcing the state Highway and Transportation Department to close part of the highway down.

Between Widener and Forrest City, Arkansas, the westbound lanes of the highway closed.

It's why police urged people to stay off the roads.

"We've worked numerous accidents since the snow has actually started covering the roads. We extremely encourage people to stay off the roads this afternoon and this evening," Corporal Rick Guimond with the Jonesboro Police Department said.
