Arkansas trauma network now includes 6 hospitals

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas health officials say the state's budding trauma network now includes six institutions, with four of them certified as Level I hospitals equipped and staffed to
provide the highest level of care.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that two of the six are in cities outside Arkansas but near the state's border - at Memphis, Tenn., and Springfield, Mo. - including the latest institution to be certified as a Level I facility, St. John's Medical Center at Springfield.

The other three Level I hospitals are the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital and Arkansas Children's Hospital, both at Little Rock, and the Regional Medical Center at Memphis.
Hospitals certified as Level II facilities are Jefferson Regional Medical Center at Pine Bluff and Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.
