Final totals being counted for Arkansas Sportshow

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Sunday was the final day for the 2011 Arkansas Sportshow and the final votes are being counted. All of the money made will go toward projects in Jonesboro and elsewhere.

People from all over the area took advantage of the nice weather to show up at the Convocation Center to look at the latest in sporting equipment, and to participate in a variety of activities and events.

Vendors set up and showed everything from boats, campers, and paintball guns. "We've got a lot of sportsmen in Northeast Arkansas and we have people coming in from Southeast Missouri as well as Western Tennessee." says Gary Clark with the Jonesboro Rotary Club, "It's very much a regional event."

The sports show also broke a record Saturday afternoon by selling 1,450 tickets in one hour, breaking the previous record of 500 tickets in one hour. Clark says the event gets bigger and better each year.

It's no secret rural Arkansas is struggling. From schools closing to infrastructure to population, many towns can’t stay afloat.
