Sikeston couple celebrates 70th wedding anniversary

SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - A Sikeston husband and wife recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Willine and Ferrell Miller's Sikeston home is filled with cards from friends and family, all of whom send the couple their well wishes.

The couple got married in Charleston in 1940, and have had five kids and several grandchildren.

What's their secret to long, healthy marriage?

"We have always loved each other and when this day comes around why, we take it and know we love each other," said Ferrell. "That's the way it is."

"It's just the two of us.  We've gotten used to it," said Willine.  "And so then when we're not together is when we miss each other.  It's not so much how special it is when we're here.  It would be worse when we were apart."

The couple isn't just celebrating Valentine's Day.

Feb. 14 is also Mrs. Miller's 89th birthday.   And Mr. Miller is not afraid to tell his age.  He'll soon be 92.
