Police in Region 8 arrest 2 men in armed home invasion

INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – Police in Independence County have arrested 2 men in connection with an armed home invasion.

According to the Independence County Sheriff's Department, Shane Wade and Tony Branscum were arrested in connection to an armed home invasion that happened on February 15.

Police say Wade and Branscum broke into a home on Community Drive and pulled a gun on 2 men who were sleeping inside. The victims were able to flag down a passing deputy a few minutes after the incident.

Two laptops, $400 in cash, and 2 cell phones were reported as missing from the home invasion.

    After several reported wrecks involving students on County Road 431 near the Valley View High School, the school district is desperately wanting a solution to the gravel road. According to Dr. Haley Fitzgerald, a grant writer for the  Valley View School District, at least nine wrecks have taken place on CR 431 in only two years.
