Congressional meeting planned for Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The U.S. Representatives' Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will hold a field hearing in Jonesboro Thursday, February 24.  The meeting will be held at the ASU Cooper Alumni Center at 8:15pm. 

First District Congressman Rick Crawford, who is a member of the committee will be joined by other members including Committee Chairman John Mica of Florida.  Members will hear from eight local panelists during the field listening meeting. 

Panelists for the Jonesboro listening event include Ron Dowdy of Ronnie Dowdy Trucking, Independence County Judge Robert Griffin, Corning Mayor Dewayne Phelan, State Senator Johnny Key of Mountain Home, State Senator Missy Irvin of Mountain View, State Senator Paul Bookout of Jonesboro, Mike Cameron of Cameron Construction, Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin, State Representative Davy Carter, and AHTD Director Dan Flowers. 

The event will be one of 14 around the country for Congress to hear from constituents on future legislation.

In a news release, Rep. Mica said, "The best ideas to improve and streamline government programs often come from outside of Washington, and before we draft any legislation these meetings will provide the Committee with valuable insight and information."
