Region 8 man injured in crash dies

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A Region 8 man has died of injuries he sustained in a late-night car crash.

The crash happened just after 11 o'clock Tuesday, February 22, on Southwest Drive near the Wood Street intersection.

According to Jonesboro police, a 2007 Ford pickup truck driven by Brian Jackson of Jonesboro was traveling south on Southwest Drive when it apparently crossed the center turn lane.

The truck slammed into a 2002 Buick Century driven by 32-year-old Tamika Thomas.

Investigators say the truck then overturned several times.

26-year-old Nicholas Webb of Jonesboro was a passenger in the truck.

Police say Webb, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle.

Webb was taken to St. Bernards Medical Center then airlifted to The MED in Memphis, Tennessee, where he later died.

Thomas and Jackson were also injured.  They were taken to local hospitals.

Police say Jackson and Thomas were wearing their seat belts.

Southwest Drive was temporarily shut down while police investigated the crash scene.

Jonesboro police say the investigation is ongoing and they are awaiting results from the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine what, if any, charges may be filed.
