SHARP COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Wayne Watkins remains in a Sharp County jail Monday night.

Watkins, who is charged with theft by receiving over a 2002 real estate deal, had his bond changed to a cash only bond in circuit court Monday. The judge said Watkins must now pay his bond of nearly $107,000 in full to be released.

Police arrested Watkins on February 21 at a Houston airport as he was returning from Mexico, where he has lived for the past four years. Watkins was extradited from Texas to Ash Flat on Wednesday, February 23.

According to the Associated Press, Watkins' lawyer said he was returning to see his seriously ill father and knew he would be arrested on a 2007 theft by deception charge.

Watkins' next court date is March 16th. His attorney said at that time, he will plead not guilty to the charge against him.
