JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Thursday afternoon storms caused minor damage as they moved through the area.  Possible tornadoes, strong winds, and heavy rains made for a difficult afternoon across the area.

A possible tornado near Portageville, Missouri blew vehicles off the roadway according to a report to the National Weather Service.  Another tornado report near Crawfordsville, in Crittenden County, Arkansas knocked tree limbs into the roadway as the storm cross U.S. Highway 64.

Strong winds destroyed a farm shop northeast of Walnut Ridge in Lawrence County.  The Marion Fire Department is reporting damage to a convenience store at Interstate 55 and U.S. Highway 64.  In Poinsett County, power lines and poles were on the ground near Judd Hill on Highway 214.

Several radar indicated tornado warnings were issued as the storms moved through.  Flash flood warnings remain in effect through the evening for several counties as heavy rains continue to fall.

Over four inches of rain has fallen in parts of the region.  Some flash flooding left roads under water in Greene County.  Do not drive into areas where water covers the roadway.  It only takes a few inches of fast moving water to move a car off the road.

As the storms moved through other parts of Arkansas the severe storms knocked trees down and wiped out power for more than 21,000 people across the state.  Some 5,000 people were without power in southern Columbia County as of 6:30 p.m. Thursday. More outages were expected as the storm moves eastward.
