Runners hit the pavement for heart health

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Runners put on their running shoes Saturday for the 11th Annual St. Bernard's Healthy Heart 2 Mile Run. Around five hundred people hit the pavement all running and walking for a cause. The money from the event will benefit the St. Bernard's Foundation that distributes money for women heart education across Northeast Arkansas. Organizer Jim Stearns says the event helps illustrate heart health awareness.

"We're real excited about the turn out. We always shoot for a goal of 500 people, so we're real excited about that. We like to have people trying to be more healthy and active, running and walking for their cause," says Stearns.

The event kicks off the Ridge Riders Athletic Club's Running and Walking Series, a twelve event series in Northeast Arkansas.
