Workshop focuses on preserving family heritage

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A workshop to help preserve items that are special to family heritage was held Saturday at the ASU Museum.

The Preserving Family Heritage workshop was designed to allow people to bring objects in and get advice on how to keep them in good condition.  Also, it offered a chance for owners to learn ways to keep things near and dear to their hearts together in case the unthinkable happens.

Julie Macdonald with the ASU Museum says items like pictures can be lost if they are not properly stored and taken care of. She adds it's important to know that photographs are a fragile medium and can even be damaged stored in something like a box. "You need to take that extra care to know they are going to be there again." says Macdonald.

Macdonald advises keeping all of your items that are valuable together in one location, so in the event of an emergency you can gather them quickly.
