ASU Women’s Golf among leaders at Sir Pizza Cards Challenge

From Arkansas State University

The Arkansas State women's golf team completed the second day of competition at the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge tied for fourth place with Texas State, but just three strokes behind leader Florida International after firing a second-round 299 Monday on the Weston Hills Golf Course.

The Red Wolves shot an opening-round 309 Sunday to complete the three-round tournament's opening day tied for sixth place, but rose two places in the standings with its second-round score that tied Louisville for the lowest among the 14 competing teams. A-State's 299 was also its third lowest round this season and its best since shooting a 298 at the Lady Red Wolf Classic in October.

Freshman Courtney Manning, currently in third place and just two strokes behind leader Sara-Maude Juneau of Louisville, is in the hunt for her first tournament title at ASU. Manning led ASU each of the first two rounds, posting a career-best 70 for the opening 18 holes before coming back to fire a 73 Monday, which tied her previous career-low round.

Joining Manning among the top-25 leaders for ASU is Anna Carling, who is tied for 14th place with a combined 152. Carling shot a 76 for both the first and second rounds.

Jennifer Loiacano cut five strokes off her first-round score with a 75 Tuesday, ending the first two rounds tied for 27th place with a combined 155.
