HEBER SPRINGS, AR (AGFC) - One lane of the Highway 25 Bridge across Greers Ferry Dam has been closed temporarily for about four months while crews perform routine maintenance on the dam's gates. Traffic signals will be positioned at each end of the dam to direct traffic. Officials urge motorists to obey the signals.
Also, early in the maintenance process, the bridge will be completely closed
for about eight hours on one day. The date has not yet been determined.
Once it is, the Corps will send notification through the news media and post it on its Website at www.swl.usace.army.mil.
The one-day closure is necessary so heavy equipment can install a "floating bulkhead." The floating bulkhead keeps water off the gates while they are being worked on.
Alternate routes for motorists during the closure are Highway 16 and 92 around the west side of the lake and Highway 110 and Dry Mountain Road around the east side of the lake.
Officials at the Army Corps of Engineers Greers Ferry Project Office said they regret any inconvenience this may cause and ask for public cooperation until the work is complete.
The closure is being coordinated with emergency services and law enforcement agencies. The
