Newport shooting leaves one man injured

An early morning shooting in Jackson county leaves one man injured with a suspect still at large.

Around 10:30 this morning Newport police got a call about a shooting at the corner of Dewey and Border street.

When police arrived, the victim, 23 year old James Williams of Newport was shot in the shoulder. During the investigation a bullet hole was found in a home on Dewey street.

According to police, witnesses say there was a large crowd prior to the shooting, but none of the witnesses are talking about the possible shooter.
