Rector's 62nd Labor Day Bash

September 1, 2003

The town of Rector held it's 62nd Labor Day picnic today and Boyd Pickler says today was like a huge reunion.

"You get to see old people and rejoining families just like these old people I grew up with them and I get to see them once a year.

Congressman Marian Berry attended today's event.  Local officials say this picnic gives them the opportunity to talk to the people they represent.

Along with political platforms today's event was filled with amusement rides for kids and the family.

All of today's proceedes go towards the maintenance of the community cemetery.  Michael Polk says that says a lot for the type of people that live in the community.

"The community i grew up in didn't have this kind of community spirit so it's really good to live in a community like this."
