UALR and Middle Tennessee to play in 2011 NCAA Women's Tournament

NEW ORLEANS (SBC) - For the third time in five years, and the second consecutive year, the Sun Belt Conference will send multiple teams to the Women's NCAA Championship as Middle Tennessee and UALR learned their postseason landing spots Monday night.

The UALR women's basketball team received the No. 12 seed for the 2011 NCAA Tournament and will face Green Bay (32-1) the No. 5 seed at the INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, Kan. on Sunday, March 20 at 4:20 p.m. (CT) on ESPN 2.

For the eighth consecutive season, the Middle Tennessee women's basketball team will be playing in the postseason as it will square off as the No. 11 seed in the Dallas Region against No. 6 seed Georgia in Auburn, Ala., during First Round action of the NCAA Tournament Sunday. The two teams will tip-off at 6:30 p.m. (CT) live on ESPN2.

This is the second-straight NCAA appearance for the Trojans who last season defeated higher-seeded Georgia Tech 63-53 in Norman, Okla.  UALR lost in the second round to Final Four team Oklahoma 60-44.

The Blue Raiders extended their current streak to compete in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in head coach Rick Insell's six seasons and 14th overall trip to the "Big Dance".
