MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - As the snow melts up north, the water has to go somewhere and a lot of it is flowing down the Mississippi River.
What is normally a 15 to 20 foot bank is now at water level and up to the base of some grain elevators. The water has also reached loading docks at Bunge, located at Barfield where the highway runs into the river.
The fast down river current is making upriver passage tough for towboats.
Port officials at Kinder Morgan Terminal say the river may rise another foot by Sunday.
