ASU Soccer falls at Memphis in second spring game

JONESBORO, Ark. (3/18/11) – The Arkansas State soccer team played well but ultimately fell at Memphis 2-0 in its second spring game of the year.

ASU held the Tigers scoreless through the first 75-minutes of action until Memphis' Christabel Oduro gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead scoring with 15:22 left in the game. Memphis then scored with 4:52 left in the game when Rasheed Ansari put one in the net.

ASU got solid performances from Lyndsey Patterson, Ashley Jackson and Stasha Siers.

"We went down fighting against a very talented and well coached team," said ASU head coach Tafadzwa Ziyenge. "Rather than sit back in fear we actually attacked and played well as a team. The girls put up an encouraging performance tonight."

The Red Wolves continue spring soccer action traveling to Ole Miss on April second to face the Rebels and Samford on the same day.
