Remains in Region 8 identified as missing Cabot woman

WHITE COUNTY, AR (KAIT & AP) – Human remains found in March in White County has been identified as that of a missing person out of Cabot.

According to the White County Sheriff's Department, the remains were identified as 24-year-old Carissa Downey. Downey was reported missing out of the Cabot Police Department.

The White County Sheriff's Department is working with Cabot Police Department as well as other local agencies to find out more facts about the case.

Two people found the body about 4 p.m. Sunday March 20, just off Dripping Springs Road.

Regina Dale told the Searcy Daily Citizen she had seen the bag on her fiance's property earlier and decided to check it out on Sunday. Dale and fiancDe Charles Pruett looked in the bag and discovered hair, the shape of a human skull and a rib cage. Pruett says that's when he called authorities.
