WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Marion Berry Friday finished guiding through several transportation projects for Arkansas as the House passed the 2004 fiscal year Treasury & Transportation Appropriations bill.

The legislation includes several projects for Arkansas' First Congressional District, including $1 million to build a much-needed Caraway Road bridge overpass connecting Jonesboro and the Arkansas State University campus.

According a release from Berry's office, the project will provide a grade-separated intersection over the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern/Santa Fe railroads, pedestrian bridges, widened roads and other means to eliminate pedestrian, vehicle and rail traffic conflicts.

Another project includes $1.5 million to widen more than four miles of U.S. 412 to four lanes near Mountain Home in Baxter County.  Highway 412 is part of the Congressionally-designated High Priority Corridor 8.

The legislation also includes $1 million for the purchase of a new instrument landing system for the Baxter County Regional Airport at Mountain Home.
