WASHINGTON, DC (KAIT) – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling 4.8 million box fans because they could catch fire.
According to the CPSC, Lasko is recalling several models of its box fans because an electrical failure could cause the fan's motor to catch fire.
CPSC says Lasko has already received 7 reports of fires linked to the motor. Two of those fires were house fires, resulting in extensive property damage. No injuries have been reported.
Consumers are asked to stop using the fans immediately and contact Lasko to receive a free fused plug safety adaptor.
