Local ukulele classes benefit nursing home residents

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A musical group is putting a song in people's hearts by teaching them to play the ukulele.

Teacher Betty Meredith said the class is more than just fun, it's beneficial for the people who take the class and those they perform for.

"It helps our everyday life because we get to get out and see other people," Meredith said. "These people are a family to us, you know we play every week."

The class meets at the East Arkansas Area on Aging and they also travel to area nursing homes once a week to perform for it's residents.

The class sometimes performs for multiple nursing homes in a single day.
