LITTLE ROCK, Ark. --The all-black school district that originally filed a suit that resulted in a court declaring the state's schools unconstitutionally unfair and underfunded will play host next week to a town hall meeting intended to air the black point of view on improving education.
Members of the Arkansas Legislative Black Caucus will hold the forum at the Lake View school Monday.
The Lake View School District is the only one in the state where 100 percent of the students are black.
State Senator Hank Wilkins of Pine Bluff, chairman of the caucus, says there seems to be too much of a rush on the part of some officials to consolidate small, rural, poor and mostly black districts.
