NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) - Conspiracy to commit murder charges have been dropped against a Newport man after his 2007 arrest.
Police arrested Lawrence Tolerson of Newport in 2007 after a witness came forward claiming Tolerson intended to kill the city's mayor and police chief. Tolerson plead not guilty to the charges.
The charges were dropped in October, 2010. According to paperwork filed by Prosecuting Attorney Fletcher Long, Jr. the essential witness for the state claimed he could no longer remember the details of the incident.
