Name change possible for ASU "Student Union"

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A resolution is working its way through the system at Arkansas State University that could change the name of the Carl R. Reng Student Services Center.

The building is commonly referred to by students, faculty and staff as the "Student Union" but this measure hopes to prevent confusion over the name. The idea originated and was passed by the Student Government Association and still has to work its way through the system but, if passed would change the name to Carl R. Reng Student Union.

Adrian Everett, Student Government Association President at ASU, says after a long discussion they felt that this name would serve the purpose of honoring former system president Carl R. Reng, but also give the building a name that the everyone would recognize.

The proposal still has to go through the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs as well as the Board of Trustees which has the final say in the matter.
