Arkansas man convicted of killing father arrested for drugs

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) - A man who was convicted as a teenager of killing his father with a crossbow has been arrested on a drug charge in Springdale.

The Springdale Morning News reports that 26-year-old Justin Trammel was arrested Friday at a Springdale motel. Police say officers were investigating at tip that Trammell had marijuana in the room.

Police say officers used a pass key after Trammell refused to open the room's door. Police say Trammell ran into a bathroom and locked the door before the officers heard a flushing sound and forced their way into the room.

Trammell pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in June 2000 for the 1999 crossbow shooting death of Mike Trammell. Justin Trammell was 15 at the time his father was killed and was held in juvenile custody until he was 18.
