JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - People gave their feet some freedom Tuesday for the "TOMS - One Day Without Shoes" event.

The event was put on to help bring awareness to children who go barefoot every day.

The event was celebrated with a march and a rally in Downtown Jonesboro.

Event coordinator, Sonny Dill said going without shoes was hard, but worth it.

"It's been difficult walking barefoot, you know, and it's just not to bring awareness to people on the street but actually make me look at myself to see how fortunate I am every day to have shoes on my feet because I've stepped on some things that haven't felt too great," Dill said.

Though the event is held nationwide, this was the first time Jonesboro residents coordinated an event.
