Man killed in head-on crash with semi

HAYTI, MO (KAIT) – A man died when his car slammed head-on into a tractor-trailer truck.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 29-year-old William Smith of Caruthersville was traveling south on Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County when his 1996 Chevrolet Camaro crossed the median.  The car collided with a 1999 Peterbilt driven by 53-year-old Larry Hubbard of Burnsville, Minnesota.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by Pemiscot County coroner Jim Brimhall.

Investigators say both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
