POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) – A Pocahontas man is charged with aggravated assault after investigators say he tried to cause a head-on collision.
Randolph County Sheriff Gary Tribble tells Region 8 News on Wednesday, April 6, 27-year-old Stephen Allen King, Jr. of Pocahontas was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threatening.
The charges stem from an incident on March 31. According to investigators, King was arguing with Hilary King as she drove along McIlroy Road in Randolph County. Hilary King told deputies he jerked the steering wheel into the path of an oncoming pickup truck driven by Kevin Kildow. The car crossed a ditch, hit a tree and then caught fire.
Kildow told deputies immediately following the crash Stephen King "jumped out" out of the vehicle, cursing at the woman and saying he wished she was dead.
Hilary King told investigators in a signed statement that Stephen King was trying to kill her.
Stephen King is expected to appear before a judge on Thursday, April 7, for a bond hearing.
