JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Arkansas State University's Convocation Center was filled with people for most of Thursday, for the 2011 Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Expo.
Ben Bizzle, the Director of Technology for the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library, was at a booth speaking to people about the library. "I think participating in the business expo is an absolutely crucial part of making the public aware of the different services that are offered and I would highly recommend it to people in the community"
Bizzle says he and fellow library representatives had a purpose in mind when they decided to participate in this year's expo. "We wanted to make sure anything people weren't familiar with at the library, we gave them some exposure to. We brought a computer so we could demonstrate some of our technology and how to access the library anywhere that they are."
Jonesboro resident Amanda Cress thought this year's business expo had a lot to offer. "I think it's great. Everyone is so nice. There's also a lot of people here so there's a good chance to network with a lot of different people."
Bizzle says the library now has a lot of new technology available to patrons that they were able to make people aware of at the expo.
"The library wanted to show the public all the new technology it now has available. We Have a lot of resources a lot of people aren't familiar with the library has to offer. We have down loadable ebooks available, audio books and several other things we've come up with over the last few years and rolled out for the public. We also wanted to give people a chance to get their own library card."
Cress says she saw a lot at the expo and thinks it provides both businesses and the public with a rare opportunity. "Some people may not know about some businesses, this way everyone gets to find out about it."
