Couple arrested in Cabot pawn shop shooting investigation

CABOT, AR (AP) - Lonoke County authorities have arrested a Greenbrier couple in connection with the death of a Cabot pawn shop owner whose body was found in his burned business.

Lt. Jim Kulesa says David Derreberry and his wife, Jacklyn Derreberry, were taken into custody Thursday in the death of 61-year-old Billy Joe Pipkin. It wasn't clear if the couple had retained attorneys.

Firefighters responding to a call at KBC Pawn about 4 p.m. on Monday found Pipkin dead. Investigators say he had been shot and merchandise had been stolen from the store.

Cabot police, Arkansas State Police and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also are investigating the case.
