ASU Men's Golf T4 after first round of Red Wolf Intercollegiate

JONESBORO, Ark. (ASU) – After waiting out a five-hour rain delay that pushed the start of the Red Wolf Intercollegiate back to 1:15 p.m. Monday, the Arkansas State men's golf team shot an opening-round 287 at RidgePointe Country Club to complete the day tied for fourth place among 18 teams.

ASU's 287 tied its lowest round this spring and also matched its fourth best round for the entire season. The Red Wolves are currently tied with Louisiana-Monroe and just six strokes out of first place.

A-State was led by four players finishing the first round among the top-20 individual leaders, including Chris Pledger in a team-best tied for 15th place.  Pledger carded a 71 for his 12th round this season under par.

Lloyd du Preez, Warren Hood and Cory Williamson are all tied for 19th place after recording a 72.  Sawyer Radler shot a season-low 74 to finish tied for 42nd place along with teammate Chance Holden.  Along with Holden, Sean Brock, Matt Howton and Peter Lewin are all competing as individuals for the Red Wolves.

The Red Wolf Intercollegiate was shortened from 54 to 36 holes due to the rain delay.  The tournament's second and final round will begin Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.
