SEARCY, AR (KAIT) – A busy week for Region 8 drug agents as they haul in ten people on various drug-related charges.
On April 4 the Central Arkansas Drug Task Force (CADTF), along with the Searcy Police Department, arrested 27-year-old Jose Bravo Vargus of Searcy following a traffic crash at State Highway 267 and Booth Road. According to the report, a search of his car and person turned up approximately three grams of methamphetamine in the form of Ice. Vargus was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and furnishing prohibited articles in a correction facility. His bond was set at $50,000.
Also on April 4, the CADTF assisted Arkansas State Police during a traffic stop on State Highway 31 near Beebe. Investigators say an ASP officer tried to stop a Chevrolet pickup driven by 43-year-old Rodolfo Longoria of Jacksonville for speeding. Instead of stopping, according to officers, Longoria took off. During the pursuit, investigators say they saw Longoria throwing items from the truck. It turned out to be approximately 17 grams of methamphetamine. Longoria was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and fleeing. His bond was set at $75,000.
A woman who was traveling with Longoria was also arrested. 35-year-old Sarah Andres of Mound, Minnesota, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence. A bond of $50,000 was levied against her.
The following day Lt. Norman Hale of the White County Sheriff's Office stopped a truck on U.S. Highway 67/167 for having an obstructed license plate. A search of the vehicle apparently turned up nearly three pounds of marijuana. The CADTF was called in for back-up. Officers arrested 41-year-old Rose Lucas, 20-year-old John Andrew Lucas and 21-year-old John Jeffery Lucas, all of Nylon, Missouri. They were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Bond was set at $15,000 each.
On Thursday, April 7, CADTF investigators arrested 40-year-old Felipe Valdez Medina of Kensett, Arkansas for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest followed a search of Medina's home that turned up about 242 grams of methamphetamine in the form of Ice. Medina is being held in the White County Detention Center on $100,000 bond.
Four days later the CADTF assisted the Arkansas Department of Community Correction (ADDC) officers as they searched a home on West Race Street in Searcy. According to the report, investigators found a gram of methamphetamine in the form of Ice as well as drug paraphernalia. Officers arrested 35-year-old Michael Timberlake on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, maintaining a drug premises, possession of drug paraphernalia and use of a communication device. Timberlake's bond was set at $15,000.
Also on April 11, the CADTF assisted the ADDC and Bald Knob police in a search of a home on Ford Drive. Officers say they found approximately half a gram of methamphetamine and several items used to make the drug. 35-year-old Jason Grubbs and 26-year-old Heather Jones were arrested. Grubbs was charged with possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $25,000. Jones was charged with possession of a drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture methamphetamine. Her bond was set at $25,000.
