WASHINGTON, DC (KAIT) - Redken 5th Avenue NYC of New York, NY and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have announced a voluntary recall of Spray Mousse Foam Cans as they can rupture and expel its contents.
According to the CPSC, about 1 million of the units were sold at Hair salons and beauty supply stores nationwide from January 1998 through February 2011 for between $4 and $16. The recall includes Redken Guts 10 Volume Spray Mousse Foam sold in 10.58 and 2-ounce size cans sold in a silver container with black writing. The word "Redken" and the number "10" is printed on the front of the product.
The CPSC said a lot code can be found on the bottom of the can. Any lot codes that do not contain a "G" or an "H" as the third digit and any can with the lot codes 32G10Y, 32G11Y, 32G20Y, 32G21Y, 32G23Y, 32G40Y, 32G41Y, 32G60Y, 32G61Y, 32G62Y, 32G70Y are part of the recall.
The recall instructs consumers immediately stop using the product, record the lot code and discard the contents by spraying it into a trash can in a well ventilated area. Before getting rid of the container, consumers should get the lot code from the container, and contact Redken to get a refund.
