Jonesboro plans to paint the town green

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Move over red, Jonesboro is going green for a whole week of Earthy healthiness. The Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce has four days of activities planned during its Paint the Town Green Week. The chamber hopes some of the practices will stick around to make a greener city.

There are several opportunities that can be helpful to residents. On Tuesday, there is a community recycling event at the former Indian Mall site at Caraway and Highland. Residents can drop off electronics, building materials, resalable merchandise, paper, plastics, metals, and offer secure paper shredding. The recycling event will go from 10:00am until 6:30pm.

On Thursday, April 21 the city will celebrate Earth Day at ASU's Events Lawn located just east of the library from 11:00am until 2:00pm. There will be speakers, business booths, and a tree planting during the celebration.
