JONESBORO (ASU) – Arkansas State women's tennis head coach Marcia Williams announced Monday that Mahuiyang Rong (Jinan, Shandong, China) has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her tennis career at ASU next season.

Rong comes to Jonesboro from O'Conner High School in San Antonio, Texas.  She currently ranks 18th in girls 18's singles by United State Tennis Association (USTA) Texas.  She was the district champion in 2010 and 2011 and finished third regionally in 2010.

"We are excited about signing Mariana," Williams said.  "She has been ranked in the top-10 in girls 18's in Texas.  She is a powerful player with big shots and good technique.  She is a good singles and doubles player, and she is very smart.  We are fortunate to get Mariana here at Arkansas State."
