Rector student designs Clay County Seal

CLAY COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Clay County has a new seal and that new seal is designed by a Rector Student winner from a county-wide contest.

The new seal will be put into effect over the next few months. The winning design was conceived and drawn by Blane Murry, an 8th grader at Rector.

Murry says his style is more toward cubism and dragons, but he's pleased that the seal represents the past and future of all the Clay County cities.

"The crossed swords represent the Civil War battlefield on the other side of Piggott, then the duck represents hunting, and the rice and cotton is agriculture," said Murry, describing the seal.

According to the Clay County Judges Office no firm date for implementing the new seal has been set yet.
