MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (USACE) -- The Army Corps of Engineers will start releasing water today from the spillway of Norfork Dam while powerhouse turbines are being repaired. About 6,000 cubic feet per second will be released, which is a typical volume of water equal to two full units of power generation.
The turbines are currently out of operation, and repairs are expected to be completed by mid-June. This is not related to ongoing construction to implement White River Minimum Flows.
The spillway releases have been coordinated with the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission, and it appears there will be no impact on the downstream trout fishery.
