North Texas eliminates ASU in 2nd round of Sun Belt Women's Tennis Championship

MOBILE, Ala. (4/22/11) – The Arkansas State women's tennis team (10-7)
ended its 2011 season Friday morning with a 4-0 loss to defending
league champion North Texas (10-11) in the second round of the Sun
Belt Conference Championship in Mobile, Ala.

"I am so proud of this team and the successful year we had," said ASU
head coach Marcia Williams.  "We did so much better this year than the
last few and were able to get the fifth seed coming into the
tournament.  We had a really close match with the defending conference
champions, and the girls really fought hard today."

The Red Wolves' fifth-place finish is the highest for the program
since 2002 when A-State went 16-8 on the year, finishing fourth in the

Arkansas State dropped a hard-fought doubles competition on the day,
only winning in the No. 2 spot.  Freshmen All-SBC selection Biljana
Miloshevska and Janie Nowland topped NT's Nadia Lee and Amy Joubert
9-7.  The Red Wolves dropped singles matches at the No. 2, 4 and 6
spots to give the Mean Green the 4-0 advantage.
